If you are working with an eight sided jar
like I was,
cut out four angels from collage sheet to fit size of each panel on
jar. I use a corner rounder punch at the top for a nice finish.
Cut out four panels from aged
vintage sheet music and round those edges as well.
Age another sheet of music long
enough to wrap around the jar. I glue this piece in place using
modge-podge or gel medium before I add the other pre-cut panels
because it looks nice from the inside of the jar. ( I also use a
piece of sheet music cut into a circle to cover the bottom of the
jar.)
Next, add the angel pictures and
music panels’ one after the other until all of the jar’s sides have
been covered. I cut out the words “holiday angels” from the collage
sheet and added that as well. I add additional texture by gluing
some pieces of torn white mulberry paper here and there on the jar.
It dries semi-transparent and adds a nice touch! Use a strip of thin
two-sided tape to adhere the mini silver garland. (Helpful hint: I
sprinkle fine glass glitter over garland and it sticks to any of the
tape that is exposed.)
Wrap a piece of wired pine bough
around the top of the jar and trim. Glue silver charm to vase and
any other words you might want to use. Thread silver wire into two
green 2-holed buttons to create the “handle.” Be sure to wrap the
wire so that the flat side of the button will be the side that
attaches to the jar. I also wrap silver star garland around the wire
to add more texture.
Before attaching the handle decide
where you want it and bend the handle so that it is molded to fit
flush against the jar. You will need patience and super glue to
attach the handle. Use a generous dollop of glue on the flat side of
each button and press the handle in place. Hold it there for at
least two minutes and check to see if it is set. (Another helpful
hint: If it doesn’t set right away, which can be very frustrating,
use a small tight rubber band and pull it up from the bottom of the
jar until it is wrapped around the jar’s mouth over the buttons.
This is the best way I know of to “clamp” the handle in place.)
Once the handle is secured, you can
add little red beads, flowers, bows, or additional glass glitter to
give this vase the perfect festive look.
