Instructions |
1.
Lay
out some freezer paper to protect your work space. Choose a sponge –
either a make up sponge wedge or sea sponge. Shake the bottle of
Dye-Na-Flow and dip the sponge in to your chosen color, then across the
watercolor card. I used a variety of colors on one side of the card, and
just one color on the other side. I colored 8 cards but only used 6 in
my mini book. I used the others for testing stamps.
2. Line the cards up in the order you desire for your mini accordion
book, inside sections. Play with possible images for the cards by
cutting the images & transparencies out and placing them on the cards
without gluing them down. Choose background-type stamps and stamp just
some of the cards – I stamped only the cards that were all one color and
then heat set the ink with my heat gun.
3. Glue your images to the cards on one side, attaching both paper &
transparencies with a thin coating of white tacky glue. Burnish well on
the front with your finger.
4.
Take the far left card and flip it over. This will be the front of your
book. Choose an image and a related saying for the cover, glue the image
down & stamp the saying.
5.
Move that card over below all the other cards on the far right, with
cover side up. Take the card that was 2nd to the far left in
your original grouping and turn it over decorated side down, and put it
to the left of the cover card. Take the next decorated card, turn it
over so it’s face down, and place it to the left of that card – and so
on, until all the cards are turned over and in order.
6.
Follow the same process for the backside of the book; stamp a background
if you like, then play with possible images & glue them down. Both sides
are decorated with images, so add additional small stamps to coordinate
the pages.
7.
To connect the
pages, you’ll need a few small strips of fabric. I used the watercolor
cards as my cutting guide and cut 5 strips about 1” wide and the same
width as the cards. Starting with the cover card, I put a thin coat of
tacky glue on the left edge of the cover and the right edge of the page
next to it, and smoothed the strip of fabric over. Then flipping the
card to the inside so I could alternate fabric seams, I applied glue to
the right edge of the 2nd card and the left edge of the
third. I continued alternating so that 3 seams were on one side and 2
seams were on the other. Enjoy!
