About Jen
Introduction
My name is Jen Kinton-Bailey and I am a Mixed Media Artist/Photographer living in Greensboro, North Carolina, with my wonderfully supportive husband, Nate.

My love of creating began when I was just a small child and I have been involved with art and photography in one way or another almost as long as I can remember.

Mixed media art is perfect for me because it gives me the ability to join two of my favorite things (art and photography) together and opens doorways of expression that otherwise would not be realized.

I have always liked things that were edgy, that pushed the envelope, that weren’t picture perfect, and merging things that were not technically supposed to go together, because I feel that nothing is perfect and every thing has many facets and reasons for being.

I love the contrast of the world and collage to me, is the best way to blend the differences that make life beautiful.

I have always had the positive encouragement throughout my life to continue creating, and I am very thankful to the wonderful people who surround me on a daily basis. My family is one of the most important things in my life and I am honored to be a part of such an amazing group of people, people who push me to be the best person I can, to always stand my ground, to show respect to all people and cultures, to defend and help those unable to help themselves, to be loyal and honest no matter what the consequences, to never let fear come between me and what I want to accomplish, and to be true to myself always. These are the codes that I live by, and my art is greatly influenced by these principles.

I enjoy giving myself art tasks and puzzles such as only working in one color scheme, or only using one type of media or collage sheet, I feel this opens up your mind to create art you normally would not.

I think it is important to live and create artwork outside of your comfort zone, because that is where you find out who you really are and what matters to you most in life.

My artwork has been published in Somerset Studio and ARTitude Zine, and my photography of rural landscape has won numerous awards.

I do not think that life would be as beautiful or fulfilling without art, it is part of who I am and is one of the things that makes me truly happy.
