Introduction
My name is Jennifer Mehlman. I am a single mother
of an 11 year old girl and I live in Central New Jersey. I have been creating
art since I can remember. I remember my elementary art school teacher
keeping several of my artworks every year to enter in the annual school
art show. (Come to think of it, so did my middle school teacher!)
When I first entered college, I thought I wanted to be a journalist, but
then switched to fine arts and photography. I learned to paint, draw and
produce black and white images (before digital photography). Later on, I
went to a technical school that taught graphic design, advertising and
computer graphics - which was in its infancy. While I initially tried to
make a living as a graphic designer, I found the work too high-stress
and burned out after a couple of years. However, I did learn the
self-discipline necessary to create on a daily basis - regardless of
whether or not I feel "in the mood."
When I am not creating Artist Trading Cards for themed swaps that I
participate in, I am altering books, hosting live swaps, playing with
polymer clay, or creating something out of found objects. I am a
self-admitted art supply junkie and ARTchix Studio feeds my habit! I am
dying to try my hand at those DreamBoxes and nichos! My only limitations
to my creativity are my pocketbook and my workspace. |
