Helga and James

Helga started ARTchix Studio in 2001 with just a few collage sheets, and
that inventory has grown to over 1,000 items! James joined the ARTchix
fun
in 2002, and they've been working together ever since. He takes care of
the technical stuff while she focuses on all things creative. They're
now celebrating their seventh year in business! They're so
thankful for their
thousands of happy customers around the world. |

Helga Strauss grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and
now resides in beautiful Victoria
with her wonderful husband, James, her darling cats (Inca, Bruno and Uma), and
precious puppy, Stella (see
cute photos below). She
holds a BA degree in Art History from the University of Oregon. She
dabbles in all kinds of art media: collage, watercolor, acrylics,
jewelry, found objects
and pretty much anything she can get her hands on. You can see some of
her past artwork and fun ideas in
ARTitude Zine
(a magazine that she co-published for over 4 years with her friend, Suz Simanaitis).

About James

|
James has lived in Victoria for most of his life, and loves living near
the ocean. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of
Victoria. He's quite the technical wizard, with an extensive
background in computer programming and database administration. He
joined his then-girlfriend Helga's venture in 2002 to help with some
technical stuff "for a few weeks," and hasn't looked back since!

Jackie McColl was
born and raised in Victoria where she currently resides with her two
beautiful
kids (Lareena and Prince), three cute cats (Pounce, Trouble and Timbit) and one
sweet dog (Taya). She spends her time raising her kids, feeding the animals in her
"zoo", playing slo-pitch and of course, her favorite, being the ARTchix
Studio happy helper!

Alwen lives in Victoria- five minutes away from ARTchix
Studio- how handy! She is a full time Elementary School teacher and if
that doesn’t keep her busy enough, she designs some of the gorgeous
sheets here at ARTchix Studio. Alwen has graduated from
the French Cooking School in Ottawa, so if you want any goodies baked- hers
are the best! In her spare time (?!?) Alwen is artist extraordinaire and
teaches art classes at a local art store. She also makes time for her
two cute kitties, Mini and Bear.

Dear, sweet Inca
|
Inca is a
very sweet, adorable cat. She's got an amazing
personality, she purrs practically all the time, and it's a little-known fact that she's actually in charge
here at ARTchix Studio!

Cute, fuzz fuzz Bruno

Bruno is a big, cute, fluffy cat. He's a real snuggle bunny and loves to sleep
on his back in the middle of the room which looks just hilarious. |

Adorable Stella Bella |
Stella is our wonderful puppy. She's always got a big grin on her cute
face and will do just about anything for peanut butter. She amazingly
hasn't chewed anything in our house and is sooo well behaved...she's
such a good doggie! |
Little Uma |
Uma is the newest addition to the ARTchix crew. She's Inca's
sister and looks almost exactly like her. This keeps us on our toes and
provides for lots of laughs...especially when they mimic each others
movements. Now we understand the meaning of the word "copycat." lol. |
