About Us:
Helga's Studio
I LOVE my new studio! We had a fire in late December 2007 so it's taken
awhile to get it back into action. But wow, I'm sooo happy with it now. By
the way, please be sure to keep all of your art tools unplugged. Our fire
started because the switch failed on my heat tool and it went on in the
middle of the night (I always kept it plugged in). So scary!
It's odd how an awful event can push you
into a wonderful change. I had to start over and design my new studio and
wow, I just love it to bits now! I decorated with my favorite colors: pink,
red and lime green. And I gave myself 4 work areas as you'll see below. I
promise to take more photos and share more organizing ideas with you in the
future.
By the way, my studio is in our home. I've got my morning commute down to a
few seconds, lol!

My two cents on studio organization:
|
Label your containers and drawers as
much as possible (and don't wait for pretty, typed labels...it's
okay if they're boring and/or handwritten). For now, I'm just using
simple, heart shaped post it notes.
Keep a couple of bins on your art
table that include your most used supplies like your favorite
scissors, glue stick, pens, etc. so that they're always in easy
reach.
If possible, set aside space for ongoing projects. I like to keep
mine in stacks on my desk. For example, my art journal is an ongoing
project that I keep on my desk so if I find something in a magazine
that I want to try in it, I rip the idea or image out of the
magazine and put it in my art journal pile. This helps give me
direction and focus when it's playtime in my studio.

This is my office desk with my cute
kitty, Bruno. As you can see, I've got lots of bins labeled with
pink post it notes. This helps me stay organized and sane. |

This is another pic of my office desk.
I have a big bulletin board for inspiration and a large white board
for keeping track of my busy schedule. In the front of my desk is a
bookcase that holds some of my treasured old books and special,
cherished objects. |

Here is my art desk...(along with
Stella, Inca and Uma). They all love my art desk too! The kitties
love to chew on scraps of paper, lol. I'm lucky to have gorgeous
natural lighting with the most amazing sunrises! |

My friend made this work table for me.
It's the perfect height for me to stand and sort paperwork, swaps,
etc. Also, I've got bookcases on either side which is super handy. |

Another shot of my work table. You can
see the beginnings of my dreambox
collection on the right. My goal is to fill that entire wall with
beautiful dreamboxes. |

Ahhh, my heavenly recliner! I like to
curl up and write notes, ideas, plans, etc. It's my favorite seat in
the house! |

I couldn't resist sharing this sweet
photo of Stella in my studio. You can also get a better peak at the
lovely old books and treasures in my bookcase. |

And here's dear Uma on my art desk
looking all angelic. |
